Features BPCOmedia
COPDmedia is a certified medical device app, CE marked, approved by the Italian Association of Hospital Pulmonologists, capable of detecting the onset of exacerbations or clinically critical situations, even before symptoms occur, enabling it to contact the attending physician.
for early intervention.
The system is therefore used for the daily measurement of the state of health of the patient suffering from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).How does it work? The heart of COPDmedia is a predictive algorithm, the result of a research conducted with the collaboration of the Campus Biomedico University of Rome, protected by International Patent Application PTC / IT2015 / 000146.Use COPDmedia for:- record the measurements taken with the pulse oximeter- receive an assessment of your state of health.
The app will report the state of health in easy-to-understand text and clear icons:- Normal state;- Tachycardia Alarm: detection of a potential tachycardia;- Desaturation alarm: detection of a potential drop in blood oxygenation;- Respiratory Function Trend Alarm: detection of a potential worsening of respiratory function due to a negative trend of the correlated SPO2 and HR values;- Respiratory Function Alarm: detection of a potential worsening of respiratory function due to a sudden change over the threshold values of the related SpO2 and HR parameters.- view the measurement history, available in tabular and graphical mode. The app is able to perform the measurement even in the absence of connectivity.According to the monitoring plan, the app, through remainder and sound signals, invites you to perform the measurement with the pulse oximeter as well as signaling with a specific alarm if two or more consecutive measurements are not performed.AcknowledgmentsThe study was presented in Las Vegas on 24/27 February 2016, at the IEEE-EM-BS International Conference on Biomedical and Health Informatics (BHI) [“On the Remote Detection of COPD-Related Worrisome Events” - BHI 2016] , where it was selected among the ten best innovations; it was also published in an extended version on IEEE JOURNAL OF BIOMEDICAL AND HEALTH INFORMATICS, Vol.21, No.2, March 2017 [A Decision Support System for Tele-Monitoring COPD-Related Worrisome Events], also winning the cover of the same magazine. The COPDmedia system was presented at the 62nd SIGG Congress - AGING: SCENARIO 2.0 - Naples 11/29/17 - 12/02/17 "Telemedicine and chronic diseases: a new app model".How can you activateThe COPD Media app requires an activation code and works in association with an oximeter, both of which can be purchased in our e-commerce or at authorized points of sale. The average COPD system consists of a bluetooth finger pulse oximeter, a CE certified app, a class 2a device, the card containing the activation code of the APP (service provided on an annual subscription basis), access to the patient portal. On first use, the app will guide you through the registration and activation of the service, by entering the alphanumeric activation code available inside the package. For correct operation, the app needs a "training" phase lasting 5 days, based on a monitoring plan of three daily measurements divided by predefined time slot: morning, afternoon and evening.
During this phase, the app adapts to the physiological characteristics of the patient, customizing the behavior and adapting the coefficients used by the predictive algorithm.
The device will continue to model itself afterwards for the best response from the device.
